Darwin Nunez scored two goals in the extra time of Brentford vs Liverpool 2-0. Liverpool also strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League standings, Saturday (18/1/2025).
Liverpool are top of the table with 50 points, followed by Arsenal with 43. Both teams have played 21 times.
Second-placed Arsenal will look to close the four-point gap on Liverpool by beating Aston Villa later.
Nunez was jeered by Brentford fans after coming on as a substitute in the 65th minute, but the Uruguayan forward responded by heading home Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross in the 90+1 minute.
Nunez then finished off a counter-attack two minutes later to secure a first win in three Premier League games for Liverpool, who drew with Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool have only lost one league game all season, at home to Forest in September 2024. The Reds had 37 shots against Brentford and scored with their last two.
Meanwhile, Justin Kluivert scored his second league hat-trick of the season to inspire Bournemouth to a 4-1 win at Newcastle.
The Dutch midfielder scored in the sixth, 44th and final minutes of second-half stoppage time at St James' Park. Milos Kerkez added a fourth in the sixth minute of added time.
Bruno Guimaraes equalised for fourth-placed Newcastle.
Kluivert, whose father is Indonesian national team coach Patrick Kluivert, also scored three goals against Wolverhampton in November 2024. In that match, all of Kluivert's goals were penalties, but he scored from open play every time against Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Leicester, who have lost seven consecutive Premier League games, lost 2-0 to Fulham, adding to the pressure on newly-appointed manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Van Nistelrooy won just one of his nine league games in charge. Leicester beat West Ham on December 3, 2024, Van Nistelrooy's first game.
Emile Smith Rowe and Adama Traore scored for Fulham against Leicester.
Meanwhile, in another Premier League match, Crystal Palace won at West Ham 2-0 thanks to two second-half goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta, the second from the penalty spot.
