France in doubt, Fofana: The Important Thing is to Make the Semifinals

France has been less than thrilling throughout Euro 2024. French midfielder Youssouf Fofana is not concerned because his team has successfully reached the semifinals.

Les Bleus are unbeaten in five games since the group stage. Three wins came against Austria, Belgium and Portugal (on penalties), and two draws against the Netherlands and Poland.

However, France only scored three goals. Worse still, two goals were scored from own goals and one from a penalty. This means that France has yet to score from open play.

"Personally, I don't care at all. In the end, we are in the semi-finals," the AS Monaco player was quoted as saying by Reuters.

France forward and captain Kylian Mbappe and experienced Antoine Griezmann have come under intense scrutiny, with Mbappe the only goal scorer in the Roosters' squad.

"Regarding the level of Antoine and Kylian, we have to realise that it was enough to get us through to the semi-finals. I don't understand why we are looking for the negative side," added the 25-year-old footballer.

"We have to go in the same direction to lift the trophy, don't worry about so-and-so not being in good form, or our style of play not being good because basically so far it's enough to get us to the semi-finals," Fofana said.

This is France's second semi-final in the last three editions of the European Championship. France previously reached the semi-finals in 2016, then reached the final before losing 0-1 to Portugal.
