England vs Netherlands Predictions and Statistics: Semifinals a Threat for De Oranje

The second semifinal of Euro 2024 between England and the Netherlands will be played at Signal Iduna Park, on Thursday (11/07) at 00.30 IST. The last four or semifinal phase is not a 'friend' for De Oranje - the nickname for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands have been eliminated in four of their last five Euro semi-finals, and this will be their first since Euro 2004. The only exception was Euro 1988 when the Dutch reached the final and went on to win the tournament.

That was the Netherlands' first success at the Euros and they have not had any success since. England is not even better, having never won the Euros, last winning a major trophy in 1966 (the World Cup).

Both the Netherlands and England will be looking to achieve success at the Euros, both have quality players and that makes the match even more exciting to look forward to.

Team News

Judging from WhoScored, there are no concerns for Ronald Koeman in the Netherlands because he can field his best composition, no players are injured or have accumulated cards.

Gareth Southgate is also in the England squad. Luke Shaw has recovered from injury, and he came on as a second-half substitute as England beat Switzerland on penalties in the quarter-finals.

Comment

Gareth Southgate admits England are ready to face the Netherlands, who he predicts will not play defensively, and praised Ronald Koeman as an experienced coach.

Gareth Southgate

"Dutch teams tend not to defend and that's not what we've seen from them, but Ronald Koeman is an experienced manager. We're ready for anything, it's going to be an interesting game with a lot of good players on the pitch," Southgate told UEFA's official website.

"We need another improvement from what we showed in the last game; this is a step up in the quality of the opponent and we are ready."

The match against England is also special for Koeman, who has coached Premier League clubs such as Southampton and Everton.

Ronald Koeman

"For the whole country, it's something special. We are a small country and we are in the semi-finals with England, France and Spain. We are very proud," said Koeman.

"We had to suffer, but to have the opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals is a big success."
